The municipality of Hilversum wanted to draw up a Mobility Vision for 2040, focusing on traffic, transport and accessibility, as well as quality of life. In addition, this had to be a widely supported vision, so participation was an important part of the whole process. Daarnaast moest dit een breed gedragen visie zijn, dus participatie was een belangrijk onderdeel van het hele proces.

Connected has been involved in the Mobility Vision 2040 from the beginning. Connected worked with traffic engineers and other internal and external stakeholders of the municipality of Hilversum. As programme manager, Connected led a team of professionals, maintained contact with stakeholders and organised the participation process. Residents, entrepreneurs, authorities, the business community and other interested parties were given a wide range of opportunities to discuss traffic, transport and accessibility in the future. Hiervoor heeft Connected samengewerkt met de verkeerskundigen en andere in- en externe stakeholders van de gemeente Hilversum. Als programmamanager gaf Connected leiding aan een team van professionals, het contact met de stakeholders verzorgd en het participatieproces georganiseerd. Inwoners, ondernemers, overheden, het bedrijfsleven en andere belanghebbenden konden op allerlei manieren meepraten over verkeer, vervoer en bereikbaarheid in de toekomst.

To make the discussions more concrete, Connected has had a unique 3D model developed. This model visualises possible mobility measures and immediately shows – both now and later – the effect on the city. Hilversum is the first city in the world to use a 3D model for making mobility plans. Dit model visualiseert mogelijke mobiliteitsmaatregelen en laat direct zien wat – zowel nu als later – het effect op de stad is. Hilversum is de eerste stad ter wereld die een 3D-model heeft ingezet voor het maken van mobiliteitsplannen.

Thanks in part to the intensive participation process, a widely supported preferred variant ultimately emerged, which was immediately approved by the municipal council. Connected uses an outline of this Mobility Vision 2040 for the next step: shaping the Mobility implementation programme.
